Attention is to be paid to the square holes which are installed on the cover and on the bottom of the lamp. The lamp’s piles are inserted in those holes and a cotter assures the lamp’s balance.
The lamp’s borders and the four piles are arranged with a mortise and tenon joint. A glass-furrow is installed in both parts which holds the 3mm thick glass. No bolts or dowels are used in order to respect the original fabrication methods. Due to this fact, it is very easy to replace a broken pane.
The fittings made out of filament which are placed on the door are very delicate. A handle makes it easy to open or close the door.
The small lamp's basic size contains 15/15cm, the big exemplar's contains 18/18cm. A delicate metal-cross decorates the big exemplars an all four sides. At their endings, the filaments are forged in a very complicated way and arranged with a boring. The filament is placed on the lamp's sides thanks to small nails. These were used in the past to protect the glass which was a very expensive material. Today it is a beautifull decoration and still has the protceting effect.
We use local oak and spruce for the production of Swiss- and peasant-lamps. Our baroque lamps are made out of local linden and birch.
The spuce-lamp’s surface is arranged with a corn-stain. These are available with a clear or a dark brown colour. Oak-lamps are smoked.
Cover and handle
At the end of the fabrication-process, each lamp is furnished with a solid handle made out of filament for carrying or hanging purposes, and with a cover. We arrange old copper sheet with a green patina to create an antique effect. This copper sheet is formed by hand and each border of it is furnished with a decorative angle. After that, the copper sheet is placed on the lamp’s cover thanks to small nails. The spruce-lamps are furnished with a ancient-style iron-cover in order to prevent the finger’s burning but can’t protect the flame in raining cases.
The lamp is delivered with a metallic candleholder and a candle.
We alsob deliver wall brackets forged by hand which are arranged to the lamp's size and style. It's ideal for hanging purposes on balcks or walls.
Tips and tricks
The lamp’s using is quiet simple, but there are a few rules to respect:
The lamps should always stand or hang in a straight way, the flame could burn the glass and brake it!
When the candle burned down and the candleholder is still hot, don’t replace the candle immediately with a new one, the candle’s bottom could melt and the burning candle would fall.
Use the lamp only with a secure candleholder
Don’t use wax to fix the candle on the lamp’s bottom.
Check the candle’s size.
Important rule: The half of the lamp’s height is the perfect candle-size
10-12cm big exemplar
8-10cm small exemplar Our candleholders are arranged for candles with 22mm of diameter.
Our tip: cut the candle in two half, point one side and then you made two out of one candle for your lamp.
Please use only white candles, they are cheaper and don’t produce so much grime as the coloured ones.
